XeDAR Awarded U.S. Air Force Contract - 6/26/2008

Xedar has been awarded a contract to develop interactive 3D maintenance training programs for the U.S. Air Force.  Work under the contract will be performed by Xedar's Point One subsidiary in Arlington, Virginia, and is expected to be completed within 10 months.

"Readiness is the foundation of homeland security, and effective maintenance is the key to readiness.  This Air Force program capitalizes on the inherent strengths of Xedar's interactive 3D technologies to create training materials and electronic technical manuals that will accelerate installation, maintenance, and repair and ensure first-time right-performance on the field," said Dale Smith, Director of Point One.

"By demonstrating how Xedar's 3D imaging technologies can improve readiness and reduce costs, this contract gives Xedar a toe-hold in an emerging market with enormous growth potential throughout the homeland security community," said Hugh Williamson, Chief Executive Officer of Xedar.

Xedar's technology offers an economical, effective, and expedient way to achieve training objectives associated with hard skills training using 3D digital models that allow maintenance personnel to familiarize themselves with equipment through virtual hands-on exploration, including disassembing/assembling, maintenance procedural animations and simulations, rotating, moving, cross-sectioning, x-ray/context view and zooming.  Maintainers learn the properties for each part, including name, part number, and description, and have access to hyperlinks from each part to sub-assemblies and/or reference materials.

Parcel Rectification Project Awarded to Pixxures Subsidiary - 5/28/2008

Xedar's Pixxures subsidiary has been awarded a parcel rectification project by the County of Bruce in Ontario, Canada. The project area consists of approximately 1,544 square miles of Bruce County. Pixxures will rectify approximately 50,000 assessment parcel polygons, together with 3,000 road allowance and right-of-way polygons.

The County uses assessment parcel maps to support its internal planning needs as well as the needs of its lower tier municipalities, and has contracted with Pixxures to correct its assessment parcel vector dataset for a visual best fit with their 2006 ortho-imagery. "The problem that Bruce County is experiencing is common. Their source parcel data contains varying positional and accuracy errors that cannot be fixed with a single shift solution," said Wendy Luck, Senior Program Manager of Pixxures, Inc. "Pixxures' Lineworks Vector Alignment service was designed to address differential adjustments regardless of the direction or distance the adjacent parcels must move. Some parcels may require rotation and others will be locked in place so they don't move. All of this differential movement is accomodated by LineWorks and incorporated into the solution."

"Among the most appealing aspects of the LineWorks solution is the speed at which the work can be done. Of our alternatives, the next best proposal would have taken four months to complete, whereas the LineWorks solution can be completed in a matter of weeks," said Justin Kraemer, GIS Coordinator of Bruce County. "Perhaps best of all is that the solution for the parcel dataset can be applied to derivative products, such as zoning and official plan mapping, park boundaries, etc. We would have had to adjust each of these manually."
